This Privacy Statement gives you an overview of the personal information that Johnson Winter Slattery may collect from you in relation to a potential class action in Australia on behalf of affected 2020-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owners.

Your personal information is being collected by Johnson Winter Slattery ABN 70 843 523 318 and Johnson Winter Slattery (SA) ABN 48 455 961 217 (JWS, we and us).

JWS is, together with litigation funder CASL Governance Ltd (CASL), investigating whether to bring a class action in Australia on behalf of affected Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owners to seek damages for the losses and inconvenience they have suffered(Class Action). Collection of your personal information

We collect your personal information when you or a third party acting on your behalf:

  • provide your details when you register your interest in participating in the Class Action through the Website;
  • provide additional information in connection with your participation in the Class Action, if it proceeds.

This will include personal information that is necessary for us, if the Class Action proceeds, to act as solicitors for the applicant(s), and in the interests of group members, in the Class Action.

This may include:

  • your name, address, occupation and contact details (address, telephone numbers and email address);
  • information about motor vehicles owned, leased or otherwise acquired by you which may be the subject of the Class Action (your Vehicle);
  • other personal information you may disclose to us when you give us instructions or request a service from us, or which is contained in communications between you and us.

Why do we collect your personal information?

We collect personal information about you through this Website in order for us to investigate the Class Action, and to act as solicitors for, to provide legal and associated services to, and to meet our obligations to, the applicant(s) in the Class Action and to the court.

  • to communicate with you in relation to the Class Action;
  • to instruct experts who may be retained to give evidence in the Class Action;
  • to meet any relevant legal requirements in relation to the Class Action and otherwise; and
  • for other purposes related to the matters set out above.

What are the consequences of you not providing us with the personal information requested?

If we cannot collect your personal information as described above, we will not be able to register your interest in the Class Action or to act as your solicitors in the Class Action if it proceeds.

Who do we use your personal information to?

  • to CASL, as funder of the Class Action;
  • internally, to partners and staff of our firm;
  • subject to our obligations to clients, to any person where necessary or desirable in connection with the provision of our services in and related to the Class Action, such as to the applicant(s) and experts where required for the purposes of progressing the Class Action;
  • to external service providers so they can provide us services related to our business, for example mailing services, IT services, website hosting services(including the hosting provider of this Website), data storage or archive services, in relation to the Class Action;
  • to barristers and other legal representatives involved in the Class Action;
  • to other parties where required or authorised by law; and
  • to other parties where you consent to that disclosure.
