General Motors Silverado Class Action Investigation

CASL is investigating a potential class action on behalf of Australian owners of 2020-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles experiencing engine issues. Please see details on eligibility below.

What is the Silverado Engine Investigation?

CASL is investigating whether GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) and its parent company General Motors knowingly sold certain vehicles in its Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range whose engines were defective in design and manufacture resulting in significant engine problems and, on occasions, complete engine failures.

This follows similar problems Silverado owners have faced in the USA where a class action is already underway and the national regulator, NHTSA, has recently opened an investigation into engine problems in those cars.

CASL is investigating whether to bring a class action in Australia on behalf of affected Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owners to seek damages for the losses and inconvenience they have suffered.

Affected Vehicles

The vehicles covered by the investigation include Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models sold by GMSV from 2020 to date fitted with the L87 6.2L V8 petrol engine.
